Susan Kearney, LCSW-S

Susan Kearney LCSW, Director of Austin RODBT is a licensed clinical social Worker specializing and certified in Radically Open DBT (RO-DBT).

I received my Masters in Social Work at the University of Texas at Austin, with a focus in Substance Use Disorders and Co-occurring Psychiatric Disorders studies. My clinical practicum included working with clients re-entering the workforce after release from the criminal justice system, with a specific focus in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and Radically Open Dialectical Behavior Therapy (RO-DBT) at Seton Behavioral Health Intensive Outpatient Program.
I am intensively trained and certified in Radically Open Dialectical Behavior Therapy (RO-DBT), an evidence-based treatment targeting excessive overcontrol coping behaviors that can lead to emotional loneliness and lack of intimacy – often leading to chronic Depression/Anxiety and Obsessive Compulsive Disorders. More on RO-DBT is located within the Services section.

Janet Wang, LPC

Janet Wang, LPC, is a licensed professional counselor specializing in Radically Open DBT (RO-DBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). I earned my Masters in Counseling from Saint Edward’s University in Austin, TX, and have previously contributed to counseling services at various institutions in the state of Texas, including Ascension Seton Shoal Creek, Capital Area Counseling, Spark to Fire, Nourish Counseling, and other private practices.
My professional experience includes working with clients dealing with depression, anxiety, personality disorders, bipolar disorder, obsessive-compulsive tendencies, and avoidant presentations. I have been actively involved in providing support at Ascension Seton Behavioral Health Intensive Outpatient Program.
My therapeutic approach is rooted in creating a safe, non-judgmental, and collaborative space. I am dedicated to fostering an environment where you can feel secure and comfortable sharing and exploring your thoughts and feelings. I perceive my role as helping you recognize your potential and guiding you towards achieving the life you aspire to live.

One aspect I find particularly fulfilling in utilizing the RO DBT modality is my personal identification with tendencies towards high self-control, emotional inhibition, perfectionism and rigidity. Addressing these traits with RO DBT skills resonates with me, and assisting clients who share similar characteristics in living the life they desire is especially rewarding.

Ann Gilbert, LMSW

Hi, and welcome! My name is Ann and I’m a Licensed Master of Social Work or LMSW. I have the privilege of serving clients from the RO-DBT lens. I value collaborating with my clients and exploring how we can work together to build a life worth sharing. Although I work alongside clients of all ages, my background is based in working with children and family systems. I’ve had the joy of providing DBT to adolescents at the IOP, skills group, and individual therapy levels. I prioritize providing a safe and open space allied with BIPOC and LGBTQIA+ clients. I would love to chat with you and/or your adolescent to learn more about how we might be able to work together at the individual therapy or weekly skills group levels. RO-DBT skills are all about increasing our connection to others and trust in our own capability – and they’re my jam! Please reach out if you think they could be yours, too.
